The spring season brings a refreshing change in weather that draws people to the great outdoors. The Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex is a beautiful place to be with so many fun things to do because of the special outdoor and nature activities and various festivals.
In the spring, Texans have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors with ideal weather. Visit places like White Rock Lake, Fair Park, Dallas Zoo, Fort Worth Zoo, and Klyde Warren Park for exciting and enjoyable outdoor adventures. Additionally, there are special seasonal activities and festivals including free things to do in and near Dallas-Forth Worth. Enjoy these fun events while the weather isn’t too hot!
Texas Tulips
Did you know that about an hour north of Dallas is a tulip field? You don’t have to travel to Europe to see these beautiful blooms. Visit Pilot Point, Texas for a beautiful tulip field where you can take pictures amongst the tulips and pick your own bouquet.
When: end of February through March (closed for the 2024 season)

Tips for Visiting:
- Bring $6 cash per person to enter the tulip fields
- If you want to pick any tulips, a basket is provided. Each stem cost $2.50.
- Monitor their Facebook and Instagram accounts. They will post about new blooms.
- Visit earlier in the season. There isn’t much notice of when the last day will be, and as it gets closer to the end of the season, fewer tulips are available to view and pick.
- Wear appropriate attire. Weather may be chilly outside and if it rains, the field will be muddy.
Tulipalooza
Another opportunity to see a wonderful display of colorful tulips is less than an hour south of Dallas in Waxahachie. In March, this spring festival brings together thousands of visitors to gaze upon the wondrous beauty of tulips imported from Holland. In addition to meandering through the tulip field and enjoying a day of fun, Tulipalooza supports local charities by donating 50% of ticket sales.

Dallas Blooms
Changing the winter season to spring brings a colorful array of beautiful blooms. The Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden kicks off the spring season with Dallas Blooms, the largest annual floral festival in the Southwest. This annual event showcases thousands of spring flowers throughout the garden. This is a great experience for the whole family.
When: late February/early March through April (open for the 2024 season through April 8th); The arboretum is a fantastic place to visit year round.

Butterflies in the Garden
Each year, the Forth Worth Botanic Garden hosts a wonderful experience to see a dazzling array of butterflies. This is one of the most exciting things to do in the spring as the conservatory showcases the largest exhibit of butterflies in North Central Texas. The Fort Worth Botanic Garden is a fantastic place to visit in the spring as the garden transforms into blossoming trees in addition to this unique event.

Dallas Art Fair
Another annual event for the spring is the Dallas Art Fair. This event brings together lovers of the arts to view modern and contemporary artistic pieces from national and international galleries.

Bluebonnet Trails and Festival
Bluebonnets, the official state flower of Texas, signals the official start of spring. These gorgeous flowers can be seen throughout Texas along highways, roads, and trails. Ennis displays over 40 miles of spectacular bluebonnets and wildflowers.
Trail maps are available at the Ennis Welcome Center or downloaded online. Take the scenic route through the mesmerizing bluebonnet trails for an incredible display of these spring blooms. There is no cost to drive the trails.
The Ennis Bluebonnet Trails Festival provides arts and crafts, activities, live music, food, and much fun to celebrate the spring season. Daily admission is $5 per person and free for children under 12 years of age. Activities and food are an additional cost.

Art in the Square
Southlake hosts an annual outdoor art show and festival celebrating the arts, culture, and community.
